A 16 week Assessment Period provides an opportunity for a detailed assessment of need and includes a thorough review of Referral Information, previous diagnosis and areas for further assessment. The young person will be assessed via staff observations, clinical case discussion, psychometric assessment via our Consultant Clinical Psychologist, mental health review with our Consultant Psychiatrist where appropriate, organisational demand scale scores, suitability for individual therapy, suitability for group work and community living, and levels of motivation for change. Following completion of the Assessment Period, an initial therapeutic treatment plan may be amended and areas of work requiring treatment will be made clear.
The Core Team may also recommend further psychological assessment including Educational Psychology, ASD assessment, Sexual Behaviour Assessment, and work to be completed with the family in partnership or in conjunction with the local authority.
Individual therapies are offered to the young person and, dependent on need, will include one or more of the following:
- Integrative Psychotherapy
- Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy or DBT based work including biofeedback programmes
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech and Language therapy
- Creative/Experiential therapy
- Family or Systemic based intervention
